The Silk Scarf by Ahmed Essop

PLOT  


The two ladies Mrs Nebo who is a wife to an important official of the African Front Mr Clive Nebo and her friend Margaret were on a shopping expedition and entered the portalsof the Plaza. There was a maze of modern shops some with high quality goods and some with low quality goods, this two friends brought some jewellery, swimming contumes.  Mrs Nebo saw a lovely Indian dress and she brought it after that she ask the assistant if they don't have a silk scarf unfortunately there was no scarves which is not matching with the colour of her dress so she walk to another shop. She went to Moghul Botique and she saw her beautiful scarf but she wasn't having enough money for the scarf which bought some arguments between Mr Sakur who is a shopkeeper and Mrs Nebo. The lady wanted to buy with a cheque but that shop does not accept them. Mrs Nebo was over reacting and she could not even understand other people's rules. The shopkeeper was out of his mind and keep on stick to want he had said first. Margaret was siding her friend because she doesn't respest other's opinion and she think they are poor. All friends of Mr Sakur came to listen to that long dispute and they share some piece of mind so they decide to buy the scarf and giive it to Mrs Nebo as a gift from the traders. They told her all what they have experience in the past during the white government. Mrs Nebo smiled happily after receiving the gift and thanks the traders before she walk out she face to Mr Sakur and told him that they will be no place for such people like him.            
         
  

MAIN CHARACTER



The main character in this short story is Mrs Nebo. She is a wife to Mr Clive who is a Foreign Affairs Minister. Mrs Nebo is having a medium height with heavy loins and a smooth -skinned complexion. She is a friend to Margaret whom she used to go with her for shopping. Mrs Nebo was a talkative lady and does not respect other people's opinion. She was rich because of his husband and like expensive things.
